[tag]Cingular[/tag] sells a couple of handsets that are impressing, starting with the [tag]Samsung P207[/tag]. This compact clamshell phone responds to voice commands … such as “Dial a number”… and accepts [tag]speech-to-text[/tag] dictation for [tag]SMS[/tag] [tag]text messages[/tag], so you don’t have to punch keys. Other phones now offer this feature, but the P207 was the first.
Without getting too breathless, Samsung is onto something with this feature. Not only does the[tag] P207[/tag] represent a significant evolution for voice recognition—making text messaging far easier—it’s also easy to envision how this software will soon make sending emails and multi-step commands via mobile phones far more viable. Expect to see this feature in many upcoming Samsung devices.
