LG KS20 cell phone w/ FM Radio Review

LG KS20
LG is known to be one of main producers of stylish phones and in following this trend, they have added a new member to their roster of incredibly fashionable phones, the LG KS20. With a design similar to that of the Prada phone except for a few differences in terms of functionality and its purpose.

The LJ KS20 comes with a camera, a commonplace among phones nowadays. Since it is not meant to be a “cam phone” its 2 mega pixel camera unit which comes with auto-focus and LED flash has the same quality you would expect with other smart phones. Not entirely terrible but it is nothing to be excited about.

There is a 3 second wait to get the LG KS20 camera up and running and about 5 seconds more to capture and save a photo. There is also a camcorder option where in you can record in QVGA, QCIF and Sub-QCIF formats. Since the frame rate is slow, the quality of these videos is low too.

As for multimedia, the LG KS20 comes with the mobile version of Windows Media Player 10 which plays both music and audio files. The KS2O surprisingly supports a wide variety of audio formats which include; MP3, AAC, AMR, WAV, MP4, WMV and 3GPP. The files can be sorted by artist, genre and album. It is also recommended that videos be converted to MPEG4 using the H.263 codec with a quality lower than 512kbps. Doing this would ensure a smooth playback when watching the video in full screen.

Enjoying music using the LG KS20 might not be the best thing. It only has one small speaker which when put at maximum volume produces a terrible sound. It is rather understandable since this phone wasn’t exactly intended for such purposes. So it is advisable to use the earphones instead. For better sounds, you can also use the additional Bluetooth or other wired stereo accessories.

The LG KS20 cell phone also comes with an FM radio which makes use of the headphone’s cable as an antenna to receive signals. The addition of this FM radio is great especially if you’ve already gotten tired of whatever music you have uploaded or saved on your phone.

The sound during a call is quite disappointing. The sound coming from both ends were average but sounded sharp, had poor quality and there were a lot of background noise. It was also quite monotonous and slightly unclear. Using the speakerphone is also not recommended because it only added a lot of crackle.

When it comes to power, the LG KS20 runs on 1050 mAh battery which provides 4 hours of talk time and 400 hours on standby. These figures are considerably good taking into consideration the many functions and size of the phone itself. So if you’re looking for a fashionable phone then KS20 is the perfect choice but if you don’t like all the glitz then you should opt for a different model instead.
