I have tested the HP zv6000 notebook out for the past month and recommend it as one of the lower prices notebooks on the market. We tested a model with the AMD 64 Athlon chip which we highly recommend. We feel the price saved is well worth it. Also this unit had the XP Home, which for most if just fine.
We would recommend to upgrade to XP Professional, but for the normal user the difference is hardly worth the cost. When running a cd or dvd, there is a whirling noise from the player, that we would like to be a bit quieter. the DVD playback is excellent. The battery life is a bit on the low side (3 or so hours), but what can you expect for $899 - 1000? This is a good buy, but at the same time we recommend an extra battery to those users that can not plug in all the time.

I purchased this notebook 2 months ago. I really like it, and my dad is also going to get one.
