SanDisk Sansa Player to Take on iPod nano

A USA Today interview with SanDisk CEO Eli Harari talks about the company’s pending release of a new player to take on Apple in the flash player market. SanDisk, which is currently second with 10 percent marketshare, is trying to leverage its lower flash memory costs and its 150,000 retail locations: “This month, we’re introducing a new player, the Sansa e200, and it’s superb. We feel it’s far better designed than Apple’s Nano, which also uses flash memory instead of a Sansa and iPod Nanohard drive to store the music.
Our new Sansa is priced attractively and has many more features than the Nano. You can [Read more...]

Podcasting What is It

Podcasting.  We are hearing about it everywhere.  The other day a person was at church and thought the church should start podcasting the sermsons.  So what is podcasting and can it help you?

Podcasting is a term coined in 2004 when the use of RSS technologies became popular for distributing audio content for listening on mobile devices and personal computers. A podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to subscribe to. Podcasters’ websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-times treaming.

Podcasting’s essence is about creating content (audio or video) for an audience that wants to listen when they want, where they want, and how they want.

So, podcasting can be used for almost anything that is audio or video.  It is being used in churches, politics, even radio programs are using it such as Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck.

There are many tools used to help make podcasting easier and they easily found on the web. Many people think that it takes an iPod to listen or watch a podcast, but this is not the case.  It was first coined from the word iPod but does not require one.

So have fun podcasting! It is growing fast and is going to be huge.
