Five PDAs to Impress

For mobile professionals (and those that like gadgets), a laptop is essential, but sometimes you don’t always want to power it up just to check for appointments or contact information. A PDA can help you in this department and even beyond. These five business-minded handhelds are ready to work for you, offering you an impressive resume of wireless connectivity, productivity tools, and more. The HP iPaq hx2790 and the Dell Axim X51v both feature the latest Windows Mobile 5 operating system, which brings an improved Microsoft Office Mobile suite and a new PowerPoint presentation viewer. The hx2790 also boasts a biometric fingerprint reader for added security, while the Axim X51v rocks a sharp VGA screen. The Palm TX finally adds the wireless duo of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to a very sleek and affordable device that’s perfect in and out of the boardroom. And for the ultimate road warrior, the GPS-enabled Garmin iQue M5 just makes good business sense. Read our reviews to see if one is right for you.

The HP iPaq hx2790 is a PDA for those who are looking for a traditional, businesscentric approach to ultraportable computing and don’t mind paying for it.

The Dell Axim X51 series offers a nice combination of features, but we were disappointed by the subpar battery life.

Thanks to excellent navigation software, the iQue M5 ranks among the best GPS/PDA combos we’ve seen–but it’s too expensive.

The hx4700 offers powerful features and solid performance for on-the-go professionals–just be prepared to pay a hefty price.

The Palm TX offers a winning package of wireless connectivity, productivity tools, and fun for users of all kinds.

HP zv6000 notebook review

HP notebook zv6000 notebook laptop review

I have tested the HP zv6000 notebook out for the past month and recommend it as one of the lower prices notebooks on the market. We tested a model with the AMD 64 Athlon chip which we highly recommend. We feel the price saved is well worth it. Also this unit had the XP Home, which for most if just fine.

We would recommend to upgrade to XP Professional, but for the normal user the difference is hardly worth the cost. When running a cd or dvd, there is a whirling noise from the player, that we would like to be a bit quieter. the DVD playback is excellent. The battery life is a bit on the low side (3 or so hours), but what can you expect for $899 – 1000? This is a good buy, but at the same time we recommend an extra battery to those users that can not plug in all the time.
