4 Essential Blogging Tools
1. Feedburner - It generates an RSS feed for your site. This site puts all feeds into one and simplifies it for readers. I think this is an important step that can be overlooked and will lose many readers if you skip this step. At feedburner you can get some cool icons that show how many readers you have approximately each day. It is not perfectly accurate, but it is neat. Also their customer service is great.
2. Technorati - An extremely important step. You can claim your blog and then use keywords to allow people to search for your site. This will generate some nice hits for your site. They do not have good customer support at this time, but are working at it. Almost all blogging platforms such as wordpress, and others have things you can incorporate to make technorati tags easy and quick.
3. Pingoat - Allows you to ping many services at once when you update your site. This is a simple and easy step to notify readers of your new stories.
4. YPN or Adsense - Want to make money on your site? You put a lot of time into it, why not make a little spending cash! We use Adsense, YPN and Chitika as well as a few others. Currently we are very please with Yahoo Publishing Network (YPN).
