I’m setting up a home theater in my basement (just finished framing). I plan to put 2 sconces on both side walls. But I was wondering if I should put a sconce on each side of the projector screen itself? Is having some dimmed light next to the screen good for viewing or is it better to keep the screen area as dark as possible?

It can wash out the image depending how close and bright they are. Ideally you need a dark room. It depends on the projector and screen though. Try a lamp to test it first. Good luck.

now i went there and i figured that the “portable holes” part is the outhouse by the lake and i really dont know the muggles and which they pour money is all about but maybe u can help?!??!!!!?

I think there talking about ice fishing shanty’s they would be the only portables over the lake with holes to pour expensive fishing gear down into.

A shot of my lab, taken with the 4 X 5 Bush Pressman camera. The 4 X 5 part meant that the film was 4 inches by 5 inches. It took great photos, but was such a hassle to use! I can see that I used the flash on this shot. Had to. It was in a basement. I probably should have improved the image with Photoshop, but I’m letting it go on into Flickr instead.
I built all of the equipment myself. Notice the vacuum tube tester. That might give you a clue how old this is. I don’t even remember what the rest of these things were and I have no idea where they are now.
I didn’t go into the electronics or TV or radio or audio business. But my interest in electronics did get me a job at a major defense manufacturer. My job was to build test tools of all sorts, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc. I learned quite a bit from that job. And from that, I was elevated into a technical writing job, where I had to quickly learn the ropes. It turned out I had a knack for writing and it made my living for most of the next 40 years.
This and the one other electronics lab photo in my photostream are the only remainders I have of that aspect of my life during those years, so these two photos are rather dear to me.
