I know nothing about engineering but its always been an interest to learn how to design/build small to big electronics / circuit boards. Whats the best book or way to start please?

The best way to start is through education – either formal (tech school or college) or informal (learn on your own.) A school career counselor should be able to guide you to the many formal possibilities.

If you want to learn on your own, you need to have a lot of time and money to get equipment, parts, supplies and books. With these, you can start by creating simple circuits and measuring the various circuit parameters which result from each new design.

You are better off going to school, because few people have the tenacity to really learn electronics on their own.

I’m planning a trip to rehab for a friend of mine and I wanted to know what kind of restrictions they have on what you can carry with you. This friend has spent time in a psychiatric ward, and almost went mad because they were not allowed to have electronics of any kind (which is a nerd and requires computer time on your daily schedule.) So, basically, is there any rehabs that either allow laptops or computers owned by the end client? Any help is greatly appreciated. Best answer: replies

Try Futureshop (website is Futureshop.ca), or if you happen to be near Yonge st, there is a HiFi shop located on the east side of Yonge street approx 3 – 4 stores north (towards Gerrard street) of Sam the record man. Happy hunting.
