Question by indiantrumpet: How to fix a car electronics after shorting the battery?
My pops replaced an alternator for my Nissan Altima (’2001 GXE) yesterday and forgot to disconnect my battery before starting the procedure. Now the car electronics are dead. The car runs when I turn the ignition and drives alright (though the engine block vibrates alot more than we started. . . probably because the tensioner is not set to the correct length), but the dashboard, horn etc etc do not work. Does this mean that I just need to replace my fuses? Or is there more damage done than before installing the alternator? I am going to go to the parts store later today. Please advise.
My father and I looked into the car yesterday and found that it wasn’t the Fuse box right next to the battery that was dead, it was the Fuse-able box that was dead. So right now, the radiator fans, anti-theft, air conditioning, power windows etc etc are the only ones that are not working.

only way of telling is to check it out look at all your fuses you can try an reset everything by disconnecting -ground cable for a few minutes

I am pretty good with electronics. I currently work for a controls design company. I have a love for building and programming robotics and have a degree in electrical engineering. I would love to use these skills to start my own small business but I can’t come up with an idea on what type of business to open. How can I apply these skills?

Yes. And they will see the problem when they check the log and ask you to bring it in for service. I get the feeling they pay attention. If your sabotage is obvious, they can tell. It’s easier to get another job with a work car that doesn’t monitor your whereabouts. It’s a free car for work, treat it like that. Good luck.
