Motorola Q Black

Motorola Q Black has been announced by Motorola.

Engadget: The black coloring apparently isn’t only skin deep, so scratches shouldn’t reveal anything embarrassing, so that’s good news. While you can snag this thing right now online, it won’t be showing up in retail until January 12th, according do our tipsters last week. We should also be seeing that MOL2 software update, which irons out a few kinks and improves battery life, rolled out to those gen 1 Qs shortly.

Brother HL-2040 Printer Review ZDNet

review

Editors’ rating: 7.1 Very good
Editor’s take: The Brother HL-2040 is a fast monochrome laser that fits tight budgets and small workspaces that have no need for fancy paper handling or a beefy work flow.

The good: Fast text and graphics; low price; small footprint.
The bad: Can’t expand memory or paper capacity; only fair graphics output.

What’s it for: Personal use, including forms, documents, papers, and letters.
Who’s it for: Students, writers, and single-person offices.
Business use: This machine will fit a cubicle or a very small shop for good quality, text-only printing.

Essential extras: You’ll have to replace the starter toner cartridge after about 1,500 pages, and you’ll need to buy a USB or parallel cable.

The bottom line: The Brother HL-2040 makes a fine first laser printer. To serve a small workgroup, seek its sibling, the HL-2070N.

Brother HL-2040 Printer

I have personally used the Brother HL-2040 Printer. It is a fast, cheap, low-end laser printer. It does fine with text but doesn’t do the best on graphics.

The main problem I have with the Brother HL-2040 Printer is the tendency for the printer to curl the pages. I am told that using a heavier weighted paper will help with this. Also Brother is said to have fixed this on later runs. I can’t confirm this.

Overall a decent laser printer for the price.

The Canon DC20 DVD Camcorder is an ultra compact camcorder that has the ability to write directly to DVD. Compared to other ultra-compact camcorders on the market, it is midpriced at around $500. This unit weighs 0.9 pounds and has a 2 megapixel effective sensor resolution.

The zoom is a bit weak at 10X, but other than that this is a great midpriced camera.
